Situation

Companies were searching for a multi-talented supplier to fill its needs for various office furniture components.

Challenge

The companies were searching for products that could be produced in color-matched hues and could handle daily office traffic. Chaseway covers, panel end caps, and parts with detailed plastic fabrication were essential to full office line systems.

  1. In order to reduce their costs, the office furniture companies were searching for a supplier that could replace many of their current metal components with plastic extruded parts.
  2. The parts would need to utilize our custom plastic color matching capabilities so that the entire office furniture line used a common family of colors. The supplier’s fabrication ability was also crucial, as notching, punching, drilling, and tape application were necessary for a variety of the parts.
  3. The supplier needed the ability to extrude multiple materials individually and as multiple material extrusions. In some cases, flame retardant parts were required while in other cases, green materials were preferred.

Using a spectrophotometer, our quality and manufacturing staffs could verify that each production run resulted in properly colored parts. Further development of online plastic fabrication operations resulted in more efficient fabrication techniques and extra value for our customer.
  3. With over 35 years of experience, Formtech was able to produce multiple material extrusions that satisfied the customers’ needs. This eliminated the need for multiple individual extrusions.
