Committed To Innovating and Solving Challenges with Custom Plastic Extrusions

Formtech Enterprises, Inc. was founded in May 1970 in a 5,000 square foot plant in Akron, Ohio.  The company produced foamed PVC moldings and custom plastic extrusions, focusing largely on developing new technologies that would help its customers solve their product and manufacturing challenges.

In the early 1970s, Formtech first attempted co-extrusion (or extruding two different materials in a single product) and successfully developed this technology to use in a variety of markets, including energy conservation products.  In 1981, the company expanded to a plant in nearby Stow, Ohio and further focused on new innovations, including manufacturing with twin-screw extruders and producing wood-plastic composite materials.  During the 1970s and 1980s, Formtech was able to grow its sales base, gaining several customers, including a major office furniture manufacturer and a leading residential window and door manufacturer.

As the geographical base of Formtech’s customers expanded, so did Formtech.  In the late 1980s, Formtech built a new facility near Athens, Georgia which opened in 1988 and was remodeled ten years later to accommodate the location’s growth.  This facility, located about 60 miles northeast of Atlanta, provided Formtech with the ability to service customers in the south and southeast portions of the country more effectively than its northern location.

In the 1990s and early 2000s, Formtech made several key acquisitions which allowed the company to expand its capabilities, diversify its base of customers, and develop its understanding of other industries.  One such acquisition was that of the Yates Company, formerly located in Erie, PA, which allowed Formtech to gain knowledge and understanding of extruding clear plastic profiles with exceptional clarity.  In 2006, Formtech moved this Erie location to a new facility in nearby Fairview, Pennsylvania.

In the same year, Formtech also launched a proprietary product line called Truline, which is a hybrid sheet piling system.  To learn more about Truline, visit, or visit our Product Examples Page.

Today, Formtech has two manufacturing facilities in Athens, Georgia and Fairview, Pennsylvania and a corporate headquarters location in Stow, Ohio.  We remain committed to innovating and solving customers’ challenges, delivering high-quality, custom, plastic extrusions, and to ensuring that our customers are 100% satisfied with every order.
