Herb Hutchison, VP Business Development.
What role does your job play in the Formtech process?
I am responsible for business development, or new business. With recent changes, I am spending more time with Truline, but I am still involved in “game changing” new business opportunities at Formtech.
Who do you work with on a regular basis?
Wow! Executives, Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Production, and Purchasing for both Formtech and Truline.
What is your proudest moment at Formtech so far?
I am proud to see Formtech come up number one on search engines, and bringing on new customers.
What do you like to do when you’re not at work?
Fishing, golf, camping with grandkids, and radio controlled sailboat racing.
What are the top 3 highlights of your life?
Married 45 years to my high school sweetie, my two children and my eight grandchildren.
Finish this sentence: “Three things people would be surprised to know about me include…”
- I took typing class in high school because there were only girls in the class when I showed a new student to the class
- I like Facebook, most of the time…..
- I am a Nitrox gas certified, advanced open water scuba diver
What was your favorite childhood gift that you ever received?
A spider monkey I named Cookie because she loved my Mom’s homemade cookies.
What do you like best about working at Formtech?
Definitely the people. I like working in a smaller company, where people work together as a team to accomplish goals. Politics are not good for any company, and refreshing to work at a company that does not have this issue.
What is something people might not know about Formtech?
Dave Turk and I competed with one another back in the day. I was with another extrusion company, and we both worked the office furniture industry (Western Michigan). This was a huge market for both companies. Dave and I got to know each other during this time (late 70’s and 80’s).
What are you having for dinner tonight after work?
Luigi’s pizza. Love Luigi’s Italian Restaurant.
What dessert would you have magically appear afterwards if you could pick?
A piece of Germain Chocolate pie, a piece of Pecan Pie, a piece of Cheesecake Factory cheesecake, and two scoops of Butter Pecan ice cream! Can you tell I love dessert?
